Cottage woes are starting again…

Well folks, it seems that this year is starting to look a lot like last year and let me tell you, I’m not overly happy about it.

It all started so good. We found out that our troublesome neighbors got their own well which meant that we would not have to deal with them anymore. All we had to do was get controls installed. Yup. Nice and easy. I called, got quote about $800 to do the work, got them to come in, and they got it installed fine.

Come to find out though we can’t turn on the water because of what they did the previous year to our shower. *sigh* Here we go again. Supposedly, this has been addressed but I don’t know for sure. I’ll find out today I hope.

Then we get the bill. $1400. That’s a LITTLE higher than I was quoted. I know damn well if I go down there and see him regarding this bill I’m going to be fed something about how it wasn’t what they expected blah blah blah and I’ll be stuck with it. I’m actually tempted to flat out refuse to pay the bill. He did tell me that they don’t do fixed quotes but to go over by THAT much is retarded.

Plus, now we have the driveway situation again. The neighbors on the other side filled their land and put in a driveway right overtop of what we used to use, and also ended up putting a considerable amount of fill on our property. In doing so, we can no longer get our cars into our parking area because the slant/drop off from their land to ours is steep enough that I don’t know if I trust a car to get in and out. It effectively has forced us to put in our own fill to try and build a ramp to get our cars in and out.

On top of that, we could put in a culvert and simply fill in over top of it but the existing one is filled with…sewage? No idea wtf is in there but apparently it’s been like that for a long time and no signs of DOT fixing it.

At the end of the day. I suspect it would probably be another $1500 to get something done for our driveway. So where the hell does the money come from? Good question.

I think my only option is to try and get the driveway done before the end of June and rent the cottage out for all of July. At $800/week, the work would be paid for in a month. Right now, it’s feeling like that is the only option. It’s not like I can rent out the cottage now since no one can park their car there anyway.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like getting involved in this cottage stuff was a big mistake. I need to get this crap sorted out…
