Well folks, I did my first bulk order of books this morning so they will be on their way to me within a week or so.

Those of you who would like to purchase a copy of the book directly from me are asked to visit the Facebook Fan Page of Gut Theory and post your wish to purchase a copy on the fan page “wall”. You can also send me a Facebook message, or email me, to let me know you wish to obtain a copy. If you purchase a copy directly through me, you will get a few additional bonuses.

  1. Meet the author and get the lowdown on the book from me personally.
  2. Have the book autographed by me.
  3. Receive a special book insert which includes further information about Gut Theory not included in the version purchased online.
  4. Receive a copy of the book in electronic format which can be read from any device that can view a PDF.

If you would like a copy, please let me know so I can set aside enough for those of you who want one. The book is $20. If you don’t live in Moncton but would still like to purchase it directly from me instead of using Lulu, send me a message and we can work something out easily I’m sure.

My first book is now officially available for the general public. Below are the details.

The official “press release” can be viewed here.

The book can now be purchased online through Lulu.com at this link. The book is $19.95 plus shipping from Lulu.com. If you wish to purchase a copy directly from me, please send me an email. I will be doing a bulk order by the end of the month. I am hoping to have it available through other online retailers (such as Amazon) within a couple of months.

If you’d like to learn more about the book and how it came to be, head over to the book’s official website, www.guttheory.com. You can find details about the book, myself, and even read two chapters from the book itself. There’s also an online forum set up for people to talk about various “life” topics.

A Facebook page has also been created which is accessible here. Please be sure to “Become a Fan”

If you are someone who would like to explore the possibility than human instinct is what drives us all, then I invite you to pick up a copy of Gut Theory and give it a go. I also invite you to share this post with your friends as I am trying to spread the word of my new book.

Thanks to everyone who’s been sending me support over the last few months. I’m really excited to officially let this out to the public.

So I’ve already mentioned the fact that my first book is almost finished (just waiting for the proof copy to arrive before I “release” it to the public), but what I failed to also add is that my second book is in progress as well. Admittedly though, the second book is much easier to put together in some regards than the first since most of the material was written more than 10 years ago.

When I first decided to try and write Gut Theory, I was going to use this other material as a way to “test” whether or not I liked how things came out from Lulu.com. As it turns out, I didn’t need to do that after all. So it left me with the decision as to whether or not I would continue with my other project or not. I have decided that I do intend to complete the other book.

What is the other book? The other book is something that I decided I wanted to do once I knew that self-publishing was actually this easy. I wanted to produce a digest of VAJ Magazine.

For 15 issues, I did a LOT of writing. I still have all of the issues of the magazine (although #3 & #5 are missing at the moment but I know I have them in a box somewhere) but I wanted to put it all together in something a lot more substantial. I decided that since I still had everything in electronic format anyway, it wouldn’t take much to reformat it, and stick it in a book. I could put the book on my shelf and have it as a more stable showcase of some of my past work. Plus, I thought that maybe some of the guys might also want to have some of that stuff. Maybe not, but why not find a way to keep it in a good format.

So, I have all of the material in a single document and have been picking away at the formatting a bit. I’d say more than half of it is done and as soon as I finish the basics, then I just have to dump it into a Lulu template, clean it up, and it’s ready to go. This particular book has no deadline so I’m not really pushing it as hard. My other one doesn’t have a deadline either but I have given myself one because I want to make sure this thing is out and done by the end of this month. The VAJ book, which currently is entitled “Tribute: The Story & Digest of VAJ Magazine”, will definitely be out before summer hits but I have not decided whether or not that book will be publicly available. If I decide to release it, it will likely be available only through Lulu.Com and through my own website. I’ll likely just buy a pile of copies and anyone who wants one can get one from me. Former writers will get one at no charge.

It really looks like 2010 is going to be a year of writing for me. On top of those two books, I still actually have a fictional story that I started quite awhile ago that I would like to finish and possibly publish. The problem with that one is actually finding the time to finish it, and finding a way to tell the story I want without stepping on the wrong toes. Regardless, if that one ever comes out, it will be awhile.

Tonite Tamara has an appointment for work so I took some time to finish off some stuff on my book. Truth is, I was sure I was done with all of the text for the inside, but on the way home from work today I had a few ideas that I wanted to express and so tonite I sat down and wrote it all out. Not sure exactly where I am going to put it within the book’s pages but I will find a spot. It’s probably the most anti-religious piece of the book’s text but it was definitely something I felt was necessary to be included.

Speaking of the book, I launched the book’s website tonite as well. It’s merely another WordPress blog with some basic pages about what the book details but it’s all I really need. I didn’t want some fancy thing with tons of flashing lights and sounds. I just wanted a very basic site that I could maintain easily and point people to if they were interested in the book. I also created an online forum for people to discuss their thoughts on the book, as well as other “life” stuff. Obviously right now there’s nothing there, and maybe it will remain that way but I figured it was a good way to have people talk about what they’ve read.

As it stands right now, I am looking to have the book officially completed before this weekend. My plan is to hopefully have everything completed so that I can order a proof copy and look it over before officially “releasing” it for folks to get themselves. At first, it will only be available through my Lulu.com account but within a month or so, you’ll see it on the larger retailers such as Amazon.Com and others.

Yesterday I released the news that I am publishing my first book this year. Well, this morning I figured I’d put out a few more details of what has transpired thus far and give you some details about the actual book itself.

Basically the book is done. I’ve written all of the pages and more or less all of the topics I wanted to cover are there and last night it was more about formatting. I’ve done some research and am doing my best to format the book as best I can so that when it goes to press, it looks somewhat decent. I have a little bit more work to do, but it is about 90% done and I am hoping to officially “release” the book before the end of this month.

Along with formatting, I also had to write the back cover for the book which proved to be a bit of a challenge, especially given the subject matter I am discussing. What is that exactly? I’ll re-post what I wrote for the back of the book.

Why am I here? What is my purpose in life? How do I know what I should do when I need to decide something important?

These are all questions every human being has asked and religion has tried countless times to try and answer them only to leave the logical minded behind. Science has attempted to explain our origins and purpose to satisfy those who aren’t able to make a leap of faith, only to leave us without a real sense of purpose.

Within these pages, you’ll find a “gut theory” which bridges the gap between science and faith by examining the one thing that neither side can deny: human instinct.

Gut Theory attempts to explain the nature of human existence by implying that one’s “gut” is in fact the driving force behind your life. That instinctual feeling that everyone experiences is actually your inner voice that tells you exactly what you need to know in order to make the right decisions in your daily lives.

If you’ve ever wanted to believe in something, but most religions seemed to “confined”, or perhaps only logic makes the most sense to you but leaves you feeling alone in the universe, Gut Theory will provide you with an answer that will allow you to lead a happy and fulfilling life, whether you are a believer or not.

If you’re someone who believes in the typical “God” that we hear about, then Gut Theory will challenge you to think of God as something else entirely. If you’re more of the evolutionist and think that the idea of God is somewhat silly and preposterous, then Gut Theory will seem like a more logical point of view with regards to how mankind as a species was intended to operate.

It’s not “preachy” in that there is no judgement in anything that I have written. It’s merely my “theory” based on my own experiences. Over the past 10 years I have noticed how much my “gut” has played a role in the successes and failures in my own life. A few months ago, I decided that I should try and write down everything that I felt and thought and when I was done, I realized there was a lot of material there. I also wondered that maybe others might feel the same way I did and could use some of what I have written as a guide. So, I organized it into something that could be read as a book, and Gut Theory was born.

My next step is to finalize the formatting and get the cover to look the way I want and then it’s off to release it.
