Frustration

So I got all excited yesterday about being able to hook up the Homepod into the kitchen. Yeah, that didn’t happen. Everything was going smooth and then I hooked the thing up and couldn’t get any signal out of it. The wireless router was working, I had the software running on my PC, but the HP couldn’t find any music servers. Turns out the HP can’t find the router at all unless I put the HP in the computer room. Even if I put it in the bedroom, it still says there’s no signal. This is VERY bad.

Solution? I brought it into work this morning and tried it on our WLAN here to see if it would detect the wireless network here and it did, if I kept the unit in a relative close proximity to my access point. My conclusion? The unit has no range on it at all. I have sent a support email to Macsense to see if they have any suggestions and I am going to take a laptop home at noon and see if it can see the wireless network in the house. I suspect it will and if that is the case, I’ll probably ship the unit back to CDW and demand a refund. I mean, I was damn excited about getting this and having some cool wifi gear but if this is what I’m going to have, then forget it. It’s not worth the time or effort. I hope Macsense can help.

In other news, we cleaned a bit of the house last night. I think we found two other cats judging by all the cat hair we cleaned up. Cripes those things shed a lot. We also played some Midtown Madness 2. I got Tamara playing that game now and she seems to like it, especially playing against me. It’s a lot of fun.
