I got an email back from the folks at Macsense about the Homepod and they gave me a link to download a new firmware for the machine to improve it’s range. This in fact made the unit even more unstable so I am now proceeding with returning it. I am very disappointed. I had my eye on that for months after reading about it and had very high hopes but I guess even the best reviews can’t make up for it’s shitty reception.
So, I had another idea about how to get music into the kitchen. You can buy thos wireless transmitter things that let you transmit your stereo sound to another room via this receiver. So I went to Radio Shack ans sure enough they had it. Brought it home and hooked it up and found a way to get Winamp to play MP3’s through both of the sound cards on my machine at once. This lets the music play in the computer room on my nice system, and through a wire to the transmitter which sends it to the kitchen, giving me sound there as well. One side effect. Kind of tinnie in the sound with a bit of static when you turn the music off. I haven’t decided whether or not I’ll keep the unit but I realized this morning that Future Shop may have something like that so I’ll check there. Maybe they have something better. It does work just small side effects. I gotta figure out what I want and what’s possible.
Taped The Amazine Race on Tuesday so we watched it last night. Interesting to see a team quit. First time in 5 seasons but it had to happen at that poor guys knees were not going to last him much longer.
Regardless folks, I got me some work to do this morning. I have 2 meetings before lunch and I’m supposed to look like I know what I’m doing so we’ll see if that proves true. ttyl
