Well last night me and Tamara got some good racing time in but I found out exactly how violent and abusive Tamara can be when the game gets to her. I was surprised by the huge amounts of screaming, cursing, smashing of windows, breaking of glasses, and all the damage she did to her desk when the computer didn’t agree with her. There was a lot of debris but I think she came out ok. I am of course totally bullshitting but it was a bit interesting to see Tamara and the computer argue.
Few oddities last night. First off, we lost another fish. Our fish supply is dwindling as we have lost a few but last night we lost our first Betta, Flair. Tamara’s first fish in our tanks. It was kind of sad as Flair & Apollo played a lot in the tank but Tamara found Flair sitting face down in the rocks yesterday. I doubt we’ll replace it with another Betta but we may look into some more fish, perhaps a school of Neons which Tamara has in the small tank.
We also discovered that Apollo, our Columbian Shark, sings or hums, or something. Last night, we were sitting right in front of the tank and noticed that when Apollo swam by, we could hear this noise. We did figure out that it was coming from Apollo, but he doesn’t do it all the time. It’s sort of a thump thump sound but he’s not banging into anything and he doesn’t make it all the time. We tried searching on the net for sounds that Columbian Sharks might make but came up empty. It’s very interesting. If anyone knows anything about Columbian sharks or knows a good site to tell me about that sound, please let me know.
We also found our snail. He had been missing for quite awhile. We have a big shell and somehow the snail had crawled inside the shell and got himself stuck. It took some serious jiggling of the shell and a bit of prying on my part but eventually I got him out. I thought he might be dead as he had not eaten in a long time but sure enough, we saw him emerge from his shell and he seems to be doing fine.
We think that we might be able to put some Guppies in the tank now that the Betta is gone but we’ll have to look into that. I don’t want to overcrowd Big Bertha (nickname for the 55gallon tank) but I do think we need some more fish in there. I think I may go down to the pet store after work and grab me a couple of those underwater frogs. Those are way cool.
