THE CABINET IS WORKING!

Posted by on September 20, 2004

Yup. It is folks. So this weekend I watched a bunch of movies and did a bunch of other crap but the big news is, THE CABINET IS WORKING!!!

After finally doing a little bit more tweaking, the software is working great. I fine tuned the controls so that everything uses the same set of keys and then started testing games to make sure they worked. I then decided since I had some time, I’d work on wiring the controls. This was a little time consuming but I got wires cut and spliced for all of the controls (except the ones mounted in the cabinet itself) and attached the wires for player 1 to the I-Pac which enables them to talk to the computer. Since they were all hooked up, I tried them out and they work like a charm. Arcade, NES, Atari, and remade games all work beautifully.

I installed the control panel back into the cabinet just to have to try it out and spent part of my Sunday afternoon playing a pile of oldie games on my cabinet. Man you have no idea how exciting that was for me. So now, I need to finish wiring the controls to the I-Pac, drill 4 holes into the front to mount a few buttons, and then mount the speakers, put the marquee up (and give it a name of course) and do the artwork for the side. I do need plexi-glass for the control panel but I wanted to have a working model before I did that. I know that it will be sort of a pain in the ass to unhook everything to get the glass installed, but I figured I couldn’t wait to try everything out first.

I also sent out some emails about the Halloween party so some of you (depending on where you live) may have received one. The party is still a go and is slowly creepy up on me.

Anyways, I gotta go get the day started.
