So the finale of The Amazing Race 5 was last night and it was a close one but Chip & Kim crossed the finish line first. Man, I was so happy to see them cross. I so didn’t want Colin & Christie to win. Man they had such attitude. So now no race for another 6 months. BLAH!
In other news, I got the right size drill bit for my drill so the new buttons fit perfectly on the cabinet. I finshed the configuration of the games and tested them all. Turns out I can’t run the Missile Command or Q-Bert remakes because of control issues and Frogger 2 does not allow me to reassign it’s keys so it’s playable, but it won’t be a great playing experience the way it’s made. That’s ok. I doubt I’ll play that one game that much. I also wrote a hotkey into Bender (name of the front-end software) to act as a Poweroff button. So as long as the front end runs, you can press a single button, and the computer powers down gracefully. All the rest of the games are working so now it’s just wiring it for good. I need to make sure all of the wires are grasping the leads so nothing comes off. I hope to do that this week and finish everything off VERY soon. I’m getting way psyched.
Speaking of classic games, I saw this on Slashdot today. Someone built a physical version of the “Pong” game. Looks damn neat.
Tamara is enjoying vacation. She’s got the rest of this week of the lucky bugger but that’s ok. I’ve got vacation time coming to me at Christmas time and I am going to enjoy it. Thanksgiving isn’t that far away either and that’s always a holiday.
I haven’t mentioned much about the rabbit or the fish lately. The rabbit is indeed a girl, so we renamed her Cassidy. She is doing quite well and seems to love hopping all over the living room. It’s very cool. Tamara took the neons and glo-glites out of the tiny tank and put them into Big Bertha (55 gallon) and they look way cool. In fact, she bought a pile of plants and reorganized the tank and it now looks very nice. Apollo is continuing to be a pig and eating like crazy. He’s growing but so is Pictus as he’s gotten a lot bigger since we got him. We also got some more clown loaches, tetras, and these way cool moss balls. The tank is looking very sweet. I’m happy with it.
We’ve managed to get a few fires going in the stove with the new wood but we are definitely seeing signs of moisture with some of the wood smoking bad. We’re running the dehumidifier to help and we think it’s going to. Last night Tamara got a real good fire going and it was nice and warm. It may have even heated part of the house but I’m not sure. Regardless, once the wood is dry, it will be nice. I gotta start cleaning my crap out of the garage so we can make room for the rest of the wood. Doh!
I’m hoping it’s not too busy today. I have a hew things to do but nothing major. Hope all of you have a good day!
