So now that my new job is out in the open, it feels good. Definitely daunting but I am pretty excited to get myself in gear to teaching full time again. It’s very surreal. Everyone here has been pretty supportive of my decision to leave and everyone thinks I will do great so that was all good.

There was one interesting fact that came up. Now, ever since the fiasco with the guys on the floor, I have not been able to say a whole lot of specifics about my job, due to my agreement to basically keep work stuff off my site, but now that I am on my way out, I’m not overly concerned about it so I’ll give you some dish about what the folks at our head office wanted to do….

Turns out, according to our HR department, for the last two years, our head office has been trying to get rid of me. Not me specifically, but the systems administrator position. They think that they do not need a full time systems guy here. When HR told me that, it floored me. Talk about surprised, and then things started to make a little bit of sense.

Anyone who knows my history here knows that I have had a battle over pay for awhile, as head office has indicated I earn too much here. Between that, and their idiotic French attitude, it doesn’t surprise me that they don’t get how this location needs a site guy. It’s hilarious to think they think Moncton would be perfectly fine without someone here.

Anyways, our general manager here has been very adament in defending the SA job here so I have him to thank for keeping my job here. Had we not had someone with balls, I probably would have been laid off 2 years ago. Talk about bad timing. Man that would have sucked bad.

I will miss the people but I won’t miss the incredibly dumb decisions the head office insists on making.
