How to get a message from the future

Posted by on February 17, 2005

Today’s post will be slightly different. Me being a huge sci-fi buff, I’m going to sit down and systematically tell you how you could get your own message from someone in the distant future. For more details, read on…

Simple.

Obtain a box. Preferrably something weather proof and that could withstand the test of time. Metal or steel is probably better. Write a letter. In the letter, date it, exactly correct. Date, time, place, etc. In the letter explain who you are and that you wish to obtain a message from the future. Indicate that if whomever recovers this letter has the ability to travel through time, to travel back in time to one hour after the date and time on that letter. Tell them where they can find the box and dig it up. They can place whatever message they want in the box, rebury it, and then return to their own time.

Once the letter is complete, find a decent place where you can bury or hide it where it would likely not be found for many many years. Centuries from now, should someone uncover it, they would then read your letter, and possibly come back in time to deliver a message.

If the message is received and the person does in fact travel back in time, you would be able to return the following day (or earlier) after burying the box, dig up the box, and find your own message from the future inside it.

This of course all depends on the ability to travel through time being freely available, and your box not being destroyed or found prematurely. Might sound whacked out but none-the-less, a possibility.

Whatdya think?
