It had to happen. Today I now know that I am officially sick. Not that this will make any difference as I still need to go in and do my daily duties to earn a living, but none the less, my throat is sore, my head is sore, and my nose is seriously going insane. I have pumped a pile of drugs into me in hopes that I can clear my head somewhat but the prognosis is not good. So, I’ll do my best to fight through it as anyone else would.
I don’t have much else in the way of news other than the fact that I’ll be teaching Excel to some students tomorrow morning and the rest of the week actually. This should make for an interesting day going from teaching Excel in the mornings to Linux in the afternoon. Very opposite ends of the spectrum I would say. Regardless, it will make for an interesting week.
This coming Saturday the house will be filled with plenty of people I don’t know but that’s ok. I’m always up for a little bit of company. This time it will be a whole lot of company. Tamara’s mom’s birthday party will be here as she is turning 50. As much as we wanted to keep it a surprise, the cat had to be let out of the bag due to other reasons but regardless, it will be a good time, provided no one enters my room or breaks my cabinet. It shouldn’t be a concern but I will post some guard dogs just in case 😉
I also found out today that I am now able to pay my students loans over the internet. THANK GOD! I have had to go into CIBC once every month and pay on them. Yes, I could have them automatically remove the money from my account every month since I had a seriously bad experience with Jenn years ago regarding that, I refuse to let CIBC anywhere near my bank account. So, it will be nice to have it set up as a payee with my online banking and just get it done.
I talked to Chris over the weekend and he is once again doing the warehouse thing. After a brief return to the development world, he decided to return to warehouse work. Well Chris my friend, if the day ever comes where I need a developer, I’ll come get you, and promise to make your life easy. In fact, if I won the lotto, I’d be sure to make sure everyone who visits this site regularily would receive a nice gratuity for being loyal readers. I do plan on winning the lotto someday but I guess fate just hasn’t decided that now is the time.
I did hear some interesting news regarding OAO. OAO is a place I have wanted to go work at for a long time but after hearing some of the things I heard recently, I guess I’m on the career path I have now for a reason. Turns out the place is notoriously bad for layoffs. So bad in fact that people have jumped ship before it hit them. I’m glad I didn’t end up there as who knows if I would still have a job at all. Regardless, I guess that means I am definitely doing what I should be. I have always believed that everything you do in your life is for a reason and this is yet another fine example of it. Very neat.
*sniffle* Yup. That’s my nose going again. Maybe I should go buy some ginger ale and hope for the best. Well, Tamara’s making supper so maybe I should go be useful or at least keep her company before I have to work on Excel tonite.
For those of you who just NEED to have something useless to look at, check out this Blink Blog or read about a girl’s nasty revenge on her ex. Man, I’m glad Tamara’s sane.
