Death, funerals, and other social events

First off, my condolences (sp?) go out to Tamara and her family. This past Friday, her grandmother, Phyllis Roberts, passed away after fighting some illness for over a year. She went peacefully into the night surrounded by her family. The funeral services were on Monday and although I did not agree with some of the religious overtones of the ceremony, it was very nice, and the family was together to grieve. Even my mom and grandmother were there. We all went back to Tamara’s mom’s place where we had some food and laughs to sort of drown out the sorrow of the day. The family is doing as well as can be expected.

The weekend itself was up and around. With Tamara’s death in the family, we had a lot going on but I spent Sunday by myself, doing a little work, and resting, and enjoying the day off. Back to work again, and things are going along quite smoothly.

I have since booked two more certification exams. ISA Server 2000 and Inet+ both of which I feel I should be able to pass. I need to do some studying but I am hopeful all will be good. The first exam is a week from this Friday and the other one is in 3 weeks from Friday. Lots of stuff to study so the next few weeks will be busy at home during the week.

Went to a cyber-social/multimedia display show at the O2 complex today. Compucollege sponsored the event as we have a class of graphic designers that are graduating soon so they displayed their work to the public. It was pretty cool. Lots of people and free food so that’s always a good thing. I did my part and supported the staff and students, and then made my way home, where I am now typing this blog entry, sipping Coke, and getting ready to do some work.

I do have to file my taxes so I suspect I will go do that now and get it out of the way. I have been too damn lazy to finish them. Frig. Better go do that now. More later, possibly.
