I got up this morning and decided that I wanted to get the bulk of the travel arrangements completed. So, I did some digging online and found a couple of good deals about places to stay, and I made the necessary reservations. We’ll be staying at the lovely Econo Lodge in Calgary, the Irwin’s Mountain Inn in Banff, and the Travelodge in Edmonton. Car rental courtesy of Enterprise which should work out ok because I think Tamara can get a discount on the rental. Doesn’t matter anyway as the cost of the rental car is actually quite good considering we’ll have it for a full week.
Now comes the interesting part. The Travelodge I booked in Edmonton is located on 118th avenue and about 5 minutes frrom where I used to live. Now, 20 years ago, that place was a biker gang hang-out known for it’s extremely rowdy antics, hookers, and all kinds of raunchiness. Since then, the place has cleaned up considerably as I remember dad talking about it and when I checked out the hotel myself, it wasn’t anywhere near as run down as it was at one time. Rooms look nice, and the area isn’t too bad either. So, I’ll be anxious to see the reaction on mom’s face when I tell her we’re staying at the Beverly Crest Travelodge. It should be entertaining 🙂
I took the countdown off the page because I can’t stand how it delays the page load because of it being a java app so I figured I’ll be doing enough gabbing about the trip that I’ll know when it’s up.
