Lost ARG news

As you are undoubtedly aware, I am a huge fan of the TV show Lost. Since the show has been on hiatus for the summer, the network has been running this alternate reality game across the internet and TV. It has its roots in Lost as it has been about discovering the truth about The Hanso Foundation (the people behind the Dharma Initiative on Lost). In a sort of pseudo-life game, there have been clues and things spread out through various forms of media (tv ads, websites, even a fictional book entitled Bad Twin). I have been following the game on and off to see if I could learn anything more about the shows mythology and things have really begun to pick up.

One of the websites that has been keeping a running tally of updates is The Lost Experience. A fan run site which always has the latest news on the ARG. Within the last month or so, we were introduced to a person known as Rachel Blake who is apparantly on a quest to find the truth about Hanso. Recently, she put an FAQ up on her site to let people know what she has found. I must say that reading it certainly helped. If you want the full scoop, you’ll have to follow some of her instructions but a lot is there.

According to a lot of the reading I have been doing, it looks like this theory may in fact be closer to the truth than thought before. It certainly explains the mysterious numbers and many other elements we have now seen to be true. I am sure there is more to it though.

In Rachel’s “quest” to find the truth, she has put up a new website which I think will ultimately yield a lot of information when all of the fragments have been found. If you go to http://hansoexposed.com/ and sign up, you can then start entering fragment codes which unlock portions of a video that talk about the true nature of The Hanso Foundation. Where do you get the fragments? Anywhere you can think of.

Another website was put up to list all of the fragments that have been discovered. The idea is, you enter in a fragment code into the Exposed website, it unlocks a piece of video, then you can drag the video pieces onto the main timeline, and then watch it. When all 70 fragments have been found, we’ll be able to see the entire video. I have already watched some of it and it definitely looks interesting.

With all of this said, I have to commend the writers of Lost and the ABC network for the time and detail they have put into this. It has been done in such a way that it keeps fans interested in the show while it’s not even on the air. Very nice.

I will be keeping an eye on that fragments site and entering in the new ones as they are found, so I can see what this video has to offer. I read a press release from ABC today that says by the end of the summer, it will reveal major points about the mythology in Lost.

All very cool!
