Time for a real post…

Alrighty folks, since I have a few minutes, and am in the mood to do a bit of writing, I’ll give ya the spiel on how things really went last week.

For starters, it was a great experience. I got a lot out of it and was glad to have had the chance to go with one of my co-workers and learned quite a bit. The client was a good size and very good natured so I was happy to be there.

Getting to Philly wasn’t bad but I did get padded down at customs in Toronto and was waiting for the anal probe to come out but it never happened so I thanked God over that one.

Philly was hot. I mean HOT! There were a few days where the temperature was over 40C before humidity. The day I got there I was just soaked to the bone from sweat it was so hot. Thank God hotel rooms have air conditioning.

Outside of the work stuff, I got to see the infamous Liberty Bell which is a major piece of American history. Not something I really care about but the fact was that I was there and it was something to and see so why not go. Philly is FILLED with a lot of stuff tied to history so a lot of people visit the city for that reason alone. Where American history doesn’t interest me, the points of interest were limited. But, it was nice to see this bell thing even though it was a hell of a lot smaller than I thought.

I also got to see the infamous steps that were used in the shooting of the movie Rocky. I’m sure everyone has seen this movie at some point and during Balboa’s training, he runs up and down these stairs in Philly as part of his workout. Well, we made the long haul from our hotel there and it was kind of neat. Lots of scenic territory there and back.

I think the highlight of this trip was in fact the food. I experienceed American, Italian, Chinese, and Mexican food while on my trip. I had the absolute BEST Chinese food I have ever had in my life at an authentic Chinese restaurant, in Chinatown, called Lee How Foook and let me tell you, it was FOOKING good. I even ate most of my meal with the provided chopsticks. Skipped that when eating the rice but the rest wasn’t bad. I definitely recommend the Orange Beef. UN-FOOKING-BELIEVABLE.

The trip home was long. We left Philly’s airport around 7:30ish and got to Toronto where we had to overnight until the following morning (yesterday) where I had to get up at 4:30 to make the airport for 5:30 for my flight at 6:30. Man, what an awful morning. Thank God for naps and getting home to my honey.

I also did something I never did before. I paid for a $28 Canadian meal with $40 cash and told the guy to keep it. It was 10:30 at night, I didn’t have smaller bills, and he didn’t know the exchange rate and all I wanted to do was eat and sleep so I said the hell with it and let him keep it. I’m a big tipper but I think that’s probably the most I’ve ever tipped anyone. Certainly made the guy feel good though so that was cool.

So today, I put together our new lawn mower and did the front lawn, as well as a chunk of the back and man, it is like night and day with that mower. Wow. I am glad Tamara got it.

So, I have some other stuff I want to post about but I’m going to do it in a separate post as it really is separate than this stuff. So, I’m off to write more!
