So have you heard? You can no longer bring hair gel or toothpaste in a carry on bag if you are travelling by air. Yup. I can’t bring my Colgate in my carry on bag in fear that it might be an explosive device.
After the major scare of the possibility of those 9 or so planes being blown up, airline security has yet gone apeshit. I give you the official notice from the Canadian government.
The following security measures are in place until further notice:
– Effective immediately and for all flights to and from the UK and the US, liquids or gels in containers of any size are not permitted to be brought onboard by passengers; this includes liquids or gels in carry-on baggage; and
– Effective 12 p.m. EST and for all other flights, including Canadian domestic flights, liquids or gels in containers of any size are not permitted to be brought onboard by passengers; this includes liquids or gels in carry-on baggage.
Liquids or gels in containers of any size include: all beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency.
Passengers may bring aboard baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby or small child is travelling. Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger’s ticket, insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines are allowed.
Passengers should pack liquids or gels in checked baggage
Since I don’t check baggage when I travel for work, this now means I have to buy any liquid cleaning products while in the US, then throw them out before I leave. Not a big deal for things like shampoo, etc, but toothpaste and other things could be a problem. Does this now mean I can’t bring deodorant on the plane? I’m not sure but I’m going to find out.
Next thing you know they won’t let you on the plane if you’ve had beans in the last 4 hours in fear of an “explosive” reaction.
Gimme a freaking break!
