Surfing at work is better

I’m doing some reading today and stumbled upon this article posted on Slashdot which basically talks about how for some companies, the restriction of internet access is actually causing them to lose employees. Many people have made the internet and digital communications an integral part of their life. For me, I see it as fair use. If you don’t abuse it, meaning spending ALL day online, then what is the harm. I read my news online and do various other things that are part of my daily routine.

However, I read a thing in the article that BLEW MY MIND. Check this out…

Kirah cited a Norwegian psychologist who claimed that young people were now so reliant on digital communication that “taking a mobile phone away from a teenage girl is the same as child abuse.”

Are you out of your freaking mind? Whoever this psychologist is needs to be beaten and beaten badly. WTF kind of drugs are you on? Child abuse != no cell phone. Get the hell over it buddy. That’s totally retarded! Since when did telling a teenage kid they can’t use a cell phone or listen to their iPod equate to beating them to a pulp? *shudder*
