Well the weekend is over and I must say, I think it was a good one.
Friday night was uneventful. Either that or it was just so amazing that my memory is failing me. But as far as I know, we did very little. Saturday however was a different story. Tamara had her day with her friends and I sat around the house and did very little. In fact, I didn’t even make it up to Kent’s this weekend for a sausage. I slept most of Saturday afternoon away and then come that night, we went out to the Muddy River to see Alex and Brian play. We hadn’t seem them play for awhile.
The music was good and so were the friends. Kelly & her new beau Randy made it out. Kelly’s brother Dennis was also there along with Mark Lipton (Bus Rider) and his wife. We saw Vicki (Pistache) and Tamara’s friend Sue and her husband and Heather Murray also made it out. Along with those, we also had the pleasure of seeing my ex who was also a member of the audience. First time I’ve been out and about and been somewhere where she was but all was cool. No issues, no spats. Just her at her table with her friends, and me at my table with my friends. All was good. It did however feel a bit weird, and I really wonder if it made other people uncomfortable as I know a few people mentioned it, sort of, and I there were people who didn’t come over to talk at all so you never know. Doesn’t matter anyway, we had a great time.
Today me and Tamara went out to lunch with Dave & Mel, and did a bit of stuff around the house. Instead of shredding old documents, we burned them!!! One hell of an easy way to get rid of old bills is to chuck them into the wood stove and start us a grandy ole fire. Kinda fun but now the house smells of fire which is not so bad but it’s better than the nasty gas I have today. Holy cripes.
So this is a short week for me. Friday is a holiday for me so that makes for a 4 day long weekend. I am thinking about maybe having some people over for something this coming weekend but dunno if I want to or not. If I do, you’ll hear, I’m sure.
I downloaded and watched the William Shatner Roast which I was somewhat disappointed by. There were some good jabs in there (and a mosquito just tried to fly upmy nose, lovely) but there wasn’t enough from people in Shatner’s life. There were tonnes of comedians making fun of him that had never met the man. Like WTF kind of roast is that? Anyways, it seemed ok but I would have enjoyed it more had there been more recognizable people there. I will say though, George Takei got a lot of fun made of since he came out. Lot of cock jokes. Funny tho.
Tonight, I made damn sure that the cat was in the house after I took the garbage out. There’s no way in hell I want a repeat of last week.
In tech news, I am once again pondering the whole switch from using Windows to using Linux. I downloaded a copy of Mandriva 2006 and may install it. The thing is this, Windows runs poorly on my system. I mean I have a good machine with lots of power and lots of RAM but it just seems slow. I don’t like slow. But I am very much used to using it and all of the stuff I like to do works with Windows. I have considered using VMWare for Linux to run my Windows apps but we’ll have to see. I have things for Winamp that I don’t know if I can do them in Linux. Anyways, it’s just a thought right now. I might try and force myself to use Linux for a month or something and see how it goes. I forced myself into using Firefox as a browser and now I love it over IE big time. Mind you, there are still sites that aggrevate me with Firefox but it’s a small price to pay. Chris, how do you find using Linux over Windows? Is it really faster/better or just different? REALLY!
I have an appointment Tuesday to go see Rogers. I put my name in to be a volunteer for the local television stuff. Dunno where it will lead but I thought it might be kind of fun to get into some of that stuff so I figured I’d try. Dunno if it will go anywhere but the “orientation” of sorts os Tuesday so I’ll have lots of news then.
For now, nature calls and so does the hot tub. Think I’ll clean up, play a game or something, then head to bed.
