September 1st!

It is now official. The big two summar months are now over and it won’t be long before we feel the cold that is winter. The leaves have already started to change color as Tamara has now pointed out several times while driving around. It’s hard to believe that time is going by that fast.

I had today off which was a nice change of pace. Since Monday is also a holiday it makes for a nice long 4 day weekend. We also have the option of going down to the cottage this weekend but we have not decided whether or not we want to go.

Today was both busy and lazy. Busy in that we moved some more wood and counted/bagged all of our recyclables and with just the stuff that was in the big box, we had over 1000 cans/bottles/cartons. We still have beer bottles and other stuff to include in that so it’s a nice little stash to have.

Since it is September, I have officially started thinking about how I am going to decorate for Halloween this year. Yes, it is over a month away but now that we have all of these Halloween decorations from the wedding last year, I gotta try and make good use of them. One big thing that I need to try and figure out is how to get the fog machine to fire fog out into the front yard at semi-regular yet appearing randomly intervals. See, you plug the thing in and turn it on then when you want it to shoot out fog you push this button and as long as the button is pressed, it shoots out fog. So, I need to find a way to rig a timer to it to push the button on a regular basis. Maybe I’ll set it to shoot smoke every 108 minutes 😉 (Lost Joke)

Speaking of Lost, season 2 arrives on DVD this Tuesday. I told Tamara I wanted this for Christmas but I suspect that I will be giving myself a gift long before the holidays hit.

Work was very busy this week. The projects just keep coming and coming and I had started working on a new one for a very large law firm but the project got put on hold. Kinda crappy but good at the same time since I know I could use a little breather right now.

Tamara made an interesting comment either today or last night, I can’t remember when. It had to do with me shaving my head. She told me she thought I would look good with my head shaved and then proceeded to tell me that she didn’t think I would do it. Something about I like having hair too much. It then sort of took the direction of an almost dare for me to shave my head. Right now, my hair is still intact, but it is a long weekend. Who knows where it might go. Anyone here think I should shave it?

I talked to J.C. recently. Said he is doing quite well. He actually moved and got a new job. Said both are good and him and his new girlfriend are doing well. I am glad to see that things are well in his neck of the woods. He also said he might be home this Christmas so hopefully I’ll get to see him then.

I watched this show on Much More Music a few weeks ago about the evolution of metal and there was a guy on there who apparently had made a documentary. I did a little digging and found this website. He actually has his movie out on DVD and sure enough, the local blockbuster had a copy so sometime this weekend I am popping it into the DVD player and will delve myself into the world of metal, again. I think the reason I thought of it today was me and Tamara were talking about the Halloween party this year and how it is going to be themed this time. We’re looking at doing the 80’s and I said to her I could go as the metalhead with the mullet and metal shirt. She’ll do like the big porno hair thing or something. We’ll figure something out. Regardless, I am listening to Sanitarium by Metallica right now! You can cut the hair off but you can’t take the banger out of anyone.

I installed a copy of Mandriva linux on a virtual machine on my computer and have been tinkering. I will say this, what a pain in the ass just to try and get XMMS. It didn’t come with the distro and the copy I downloaded would not install. I couldn’t compile it. I finally found an RPM on some site that did install and it did work. I will say that it runs quite nice but the whole experience left me a bit annoyed. I don’t know how far I’ll go but I know Windows is definitely annoying the hell out of me so Linux may still win out. We’ll see.

So I just noticed the the Caca Volante RSS feed had a new link on it and I suggest you check it out if you are into music. Patton goes off on some lame 80’s metal band. How appropriate for the timing eh?

Well, I suppose I should do something. But it is Friday and I am entitled to sit on my ass and do piss all. Maybe I will get some people out to the cottage this weekend. Hmmmm. Stay tuned!
