At home at last…

Yes folks, I am home. I know I already sort of posted but it was for the Halloween party so here is a real post post-Atlanta.

Truth be told, this trip sucked. The work type stuff was fine even thought there were some bumps in the road but generally speaking the client was very good and I think everything went as well as could be expected given the situation we were under.

However, the non-work type stuff sucked. I was in a hotel that was nowhere near anything. Not near stores, restaurants, bars, or hell, even a coffee shop. The closest thing within walking distance was an Eckerd drug store which was good because they supplied me with my pretzels and Coke (two staples of my travels), but there wasn’t even a bus or subway that was in this area. I really was isolated. Not having a rental car also hindered my ability to go anywhere.

So, I spent the bulk of my non-work time in my hotel room, surfing the internet (when it worked) and watching TV. That in itself wasn’t bad but it was a very exhausting trip. I am so glad to be home.

With that said, I have a week here, the Halloween party on Saturday, then I’m off to Halifax on Sunday for the day then I am back here the same night, and off to Omaha, Nebraska the following day. I then return to Moncton the following Saturday and for some reason I seem to think there’s something going on that day as well but I can’t think of it right now. I also think I will be travelling again in November for the new project I am working on.

All of the travel is not bad as I don’t mind visiting other places but I got to say it would be nice if I could go somewhere where I can do something. I won’t blame the shitty visit on Atlanta as it was just where I was stuck that caused my issues. To give you some perspective, imagine you are down at the Pte Du Chene wharf in Shediac but there’s no restaurants there, and you have no car. Quite the distance to Moncton isn’t it? Check out this link to see the distance from Smyrna (the community I was in) to downtown Atlanta. Too far to get anywhere.

In other news, I started the Halloween decorations today. I got some lights and stuff up outside and tried to get the inflatable pumpkin thing from last year set up but can’t figure out how to anchor the damn thing the way it is supposed to be done so I’m taking a break and here I am.

I also went to SpinIt today to buy some stuff for the party. I bought $20 worth of Atari 2600 cartridges and man, I am having a blast playing old Atari games on my Atari 2600. I know I have them installed on my cabinet and can play them anytime, but it’s just not the same as playing it on the original box. MANY memories.

It is going to be a hellishly busy week. Between all of the cleaning of the house (Tamara’s been painting) and the cleaning of the basement, plus her school, my work, my Rogers time on Tuesdays, it will just be insane. I REALLY need to have a good time next Saturday as Sunday is going to be very rough and then to have to travel right after. Just thinking about everything going on is making me sleepy.

I have a bitchass headache right now. Need mroe Coke and maybe I really should go sleep…
