Ok, so I had a few mins this morning and figured I would post a few interesting links on here. I am sure I have posted these before, but here they are again.
Let’s start with Cave of Magic. The website figures out which card you picked. Can you figure out how it does it?
Then of course there is the Mystic Ball which figures out your symbol by itself.
So try both, and see if you can figure out how they both work.
When you have had enough, click the Read More link on here to learn how they both work.
Cave of Magic is easy. To see how this works, when the site asks you to choose a card from the list of cards displayed, pick all of them. Write down the 6 cards on a sheet of paper so that you can reference them later. Follow the instructions and get to the last page where there’s only 5 cards. Compare the list of cards on the site to the list of cards you have written down. You’ll notice that none of the original cards are actually there. The reason it works is that no one pays attention to the other cards. They only focus on the ONE card they picked and therefore don’t know what the other cards were. Very simple but effective mind trick.
The Mystic Ball is a little harder to explain because it involves math. The key has to do with what they get you to do with the number you chose. By performing the math operation they give you, you will ALWAYS end up with a number that has two very important elements.
1) It’s always evenly divisible by the number 9
2) The result from dividing it by 9 will always be a single digit.
Look at 78 as an example: 7+8=15. 78-15=63. 63/9=7
Try 46: 4+6=10. 46-10=36. 36/9=4
It will ALWAYS end up as divisible by 9. If you look at the chart of symbols, you will notice that all of the numbers that divide evenly by 9 are the same symbol. 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, and 81 are always the same symbol. When it asks you to try again, it changes the symbol, but those 9 numbers still have the same symbol.
Once again, neat trick, and definitely cool to try on people you know 😉
