I am now even more Lost

If you haven’t seen the finale of Lost, and don’t want to be spoiled, don’t read this post.

This is the third year in a row I have sat in the basement and watched the finale of Lost expecting to be blown away. Last year when the show ended with the Portugese guys talking about having found the island, I scratched my head trying to figure out what it meant. I still enjoyed the episode.

Now last night, everything about the show was awesome but once again, I was left scratching my head going huh? I should say more like WTF?!?!?!

First off, the whole Others Vs Losties battle was awesome. I really enjoyed seeing the Others get their asses kicked. I also enjoyed the fact that it definitely appears as if Ben is on the outs with Richard and the other Others. Hurley’s plowing through the bad guys with his van was an awesome way to take out the last nasty guy, and I was surprised, but ok with watching Sawyer take out Tom.

I’m definitely thinking Juliet and Jack are heading somewhere. She’s been pretty smitten with him all along but it was very apparent via the kiss last night. But then again, Jack’s profession of his love for Kate sure as hell complicated things in her life I’m sure. Interesting to see where that will go.

I have a big feeling that the new bad guys for this show are going to come from Naomi’s ship. I do believe Ben that they are not someone they want on the island and that Jack has definitely made a step in the wrong direction by letting them find the island. Although not intentional, it will be interesting to see where that leads the next season.

Locke not being dead was no surprise but he once again proved that although he’s a badass, he has no balls and just couldn’t shoot Jack. I guess he still has some learning to do. If he’s so hell bent on doing things his own way, he needs to make the hard decisions, but ultimately, we all know he wasn’t going to kill Jack because Jack is one of the center characters in this show. I will admit though, knowing that the producers are not afraid to kill of main characters, I was a bit worried that Jack was going to get knocked off. As much as Jack has been an annoyance at times, I do think he is a good character and I do not want to see him offed any time soon.

But the biggest WTF moment was in the last scene where we saw Jack talking to Kate in what was supposed to be a flashback but in fact may have been a flash-forward. Jack & Kate talking about having gotten off the island, how he should never have left, and apparently Ben was right in that leaving the island was a big mistake for him.

So what the hell actually happened? Was that in fact a view of the future? If so, how can Jack’s father be alive since we know definitively he’s dead? There are several cues that it’s definitely taking place in the future. Jack’s cell phone was a RAZR/KRAZR phone which did not exist when 815 crashed. I noticed that right away and wondered exactly when that was taking place since I have one of those phones and they have not been out that long. I also read some stuff online that apparently the name of the funeral home is actually an anagram for FLASH FORWARD.

Who was the funeral for? How is Kate just able to drive around LA without any issues? If this is in fact the future, she’s obviously not being hunted by the US marshall anymore so did she get some kind if wicked pardon because she was in a plane crash? Was it Sawyer she was talking about going back to?

There’s big things that lead me to believe that this is not quite the future but not quite the past but some other kind of weird mix.

Now comes the worst part. All of us have to wait until next February before we learn anything else. I am very glad that I did not read any of the online spoiler stuff because when I read it this morning (since I had now seen the finale) the spoiler stuff online was dead on.

The whole spoiler thing brings up something else. Damon Lindelof who is one of the producers has now gone on record as saying that because the spoilers for the finale were out there and many people read them, he will be keeping much of his mouth shut about season 4 for quite awhile as he really is not impressed about people finding things out before the show airs. It’s still 8 months away, but a lot can happen in that span of time. As Tamara put it, that’s almost an entire pregnancy of time.

The DVD’s come out this fall and I will be purchasing them, and watching again. I’ll also be downloading last night’s finale and watching it at least one more, if not more, times. A finale like that needs to be watched more than once. There’s some stuff I want to make sure I pick up on the second time.

With that said, I need to get back to work. 🙂
