In a surprise twist of fate, the local Moncton metal band, Tormented, has risen from the ashes contrary to their No Resurrection reunion gig back in August of 2003.
The band had tried through a series of jams, and other activities to reunite in their old form shortly after playing their infamous gig at the Paramount in 2003. Unfortunately, due to a series of unexpected events, travel times, and other issues, this resurfacing never occurred.
However, recently, former lead singer Gary Gallant was asked to participate in a wrestling reality show which was interested in the band performing a gig for them to shoot as part of the show. Larry Leblanc & Al Roy had been continuing their own work in writing and recording new Tormented material in hopes that an album could be released in the future and with a little help from Gary and his wrestling show, it seemed like the perfect time to bring Tormented back into the forefront of Moncton’s metal scene.
However, due to trademark and copyright issues, the name Tormented was dropped and a new name, Dead Reach, was chosen. The band has re-formed as this new entity, without their original bass player, and have replaced him with a new friend whom the band has high hopes for.
Dead Reach, formerly known as Tormented, will play their first live show at the Manhattan Bar & Grill in Moncton, NB, on June 28th, 2007. All are welcome to see them perform some of their old Tormented songs, as well as several new ones which will showcase their updated sound, and their new lineup.
New T-shirts, sampler CD’s, and copies of their DVD will be available at the show. A new album is expected this year.
Their official new website is scheduled to go live before then so stay tuned for more info.
