Alrighty folks, I decided that it’s time for a real post so here goes it.
I am now in Columbia, SC and let me tell you, it’s just as warm here as it is back home. But, let me tell you the story of what transpired in getting to this little place.
I left Moncton at 12:20 on Sunday night and had to fly to Montreal, and then to Washington, DC, and then to Columbia. Me and a co-worker (travelling with me) made it to DC by around 4:15 in the afternoon. Our flight was scheduled to depart at 5pm which was a little disconcerning to us as we thought we might miss the connection. As it turns out, it was delayed 30 minutes so we had lots of time.
But, then it was delayed again, and again, and it was looking like it might get cancelled. But, we boarded the aircraft and were clear to leave but by the time we got out to the tarmack near the runway, we had to stop and wait for the weather to pass. About an hour or so later, we were cleared to leave, but the plane ended up with a mechanical problem. They brought us back to the gate and said they would find out if it could be fixed quickly, and if so, we’d be on our way. Or so we thought…
Turns out, they were able to fix the problem, but the crew was nowhere to be found, so no crew means no flight. It was cancelled.
So, I ended up catching a flight this morning at around 8am and made it to the client’s office by 11. Man, what a trip it has been thus far. My co-worker arrived around 3ish on a later flight. Let me tell you, I’m tired and glad I finally have a real meal in my stomach.
Client-wise, things could be a bit better but they could be way worse so I am coping fine. As for the area itself, wow, talk about being in the middle of nowhere. The plan is tomorrow night to go exploring and see if the city has anything better to offer. Hopefully we can see something a bit more interesting than trees.
Lots of things going on with work and this back to back trip thing is going to be hard on the head but I’m coping well so far. Turns out I have to work this long weekend but it will balance out as I expect to be able to take Friday off instead. That will be cool.
I plan to take some pictures but I realize that the galleries are still offline. The wedding one is up on Flickr but as soon as I have time, I’ll fix the rest of these. Just no time lately.
