Seattle ain't bad

Yesterday, my day ended a little early due to some unforeseen circumstances so I headed out to see the Seattle Space Needle downtown. It’s basically a big tower that you can go up in and see all of the city. I have been up on several of these types of places before, and let me tell you a few things. For starters, it was way over-priced. I paid $16 US to go up an elevator and look down on the city. It’s not even the highest building in the city. Empire State in NYC is the same price but it’s the tallest building in the city, and is far more interesting than an oversized phallic shaped object. Sears Tower in Chicago was only $10 and it is the tallest building in North America. For what you see from the needle, I don’t think it is worth the $16. Very nice to see the city of the sky, but I really think an attraction like that should be around $10. Even Empire State should be that price, especially given that you can wait in line there for 2 hours. Frig. I’m glad this was not a long wait, but I was not able to just go into line with my ticket I bought on the web. I had to stand in line and have it converted to a real ticket. Doesn’t that negate the point of buying your ticket online?

I did however take their monorail to the downtown center and wandered around down there. Even had supper. I took a bunch of pictures but then I eventually just decided to go back to my hotel and veg. This whole 4 hour time difference thing is really wreaking havoc with my system. Not knowing when I should sleep or stay up and the fact that I am only here for 3 days all complicate matters. I’ll be glad to get back to only 1 and 2 hour time changes. This west coast stuff is cool, but hard on the system.

That having been said, tomorrow is my last day here so I do have that to look forward to. That means when I get back to my hotel tonite, I have to pack things and that is always a nice thing to look forward to. Plus there is a possibility, albeit small, that I may be able to leave Seattle early based on the way things have been going with my work. Today will tell the tale on that so as soon as I know something, I’ll be on my way home. 🙂
