Last night's TV sitdown

Maybe my expectations of television are too high, or maybe there really is too much crap on television.

Last night, knowing that there would be some premieres on, I sat down at 9pm and started catching some new shows, finally.

It started with How I Met Your Mother which Tamara got me into watching and I gotta say, the show entertains me. Last night’s episode was no different in that I laughed, and truly enjoyed the show. However, my TV enjoyment started sliding from there on in.

We watched the new show Big Bang Theory which is basically a two nerds living as roommates end up across the hall from a super hot chick. Add in plenty of geek jokes and it’s supposed to be funny. The show was ok. My biggest problem with this was the fact that most of the jokes were already old since CBS has been promoting the show like crazy and giving away all the best stuff. Other than it having a cute woman on the show, it lacked. I’ll save my final judgement for next week when I see an episode that I haven’t seen all the jokes for already.

I then watched Heroes. I started watching this show last year but I got a bit bored of it because it was going so slow. I then sort of got back into it after having watched a few episodes while I was on the road. This one starts off four months later so you don’t really get much of an answer on what really happened, plus, Hiro’s not four months later, he’s still at the time he landed back in the past. All of that aside, the one thing that bugs me about this show is that there are SO many characters and each show seems to introduce more and more and not everyone’s story gets covered. At least when I watch Lost, and many other programs, we see 2 maybe 3 plots per episode. But this show seems to be trying to cram all of these different storylines into one episode and it kind of makes me scratch my head wondering what actually happened. I definitely can see me skipping this show entirely for when I am on the road and have nothing to do. It has a lot of potential but I think they need to have a bit more focus.

Finally, I watched Journeyman. This is a new show about a guy who seems to travel back in time at random to fix certain things in the past. He also returns to his own time but later on, so it’s like time passes in the present when he travels in the past. I watched this show for one reason only. To see if it was Quantum Leap 2007. In essence, it is. He’s going into the past, not by his own control, having to make changes to the past to make things better. Has no idea what’s going on, but he does seem to get a little help from his ex-gf. I would much rather have seen NBC bring back Quantum Leap than to see them use the same story again, with minor changes, and call it “new”. I will probably watch a few more episodes just to see how it plays out a bit, but I can see myself picturing Scott Bakula in this new guy’s shoes and I think Scott would do a far better job.

I taped another show called “Chuck” which is supposed to be about a geeky guy who becomes some sort of secret agent. Not sure how that one turned out so I’ll have to watch it when I get home. Hopefully it will be good.

But, the best thing folks, my Mac is being delivered today and if you are a fan of Tormented/Dead Reach or a friend of Gary Gallant, check out Wrestling Reality on The Fight Network tonite. WOO HOO!!!
