The funeral

Yesterday was Tiny’s funeral and it was about what I expected. There were a LOT of people there and no one was surprised to see that many people show up to his funeral seeing as the man touched a LOT of lives.

I was even more surprised and deeply touched by the fact that not only did my work send flowers, but both my boss, and our former Chief Operating Officer, were in attendance as well. I don’t know what to say other than thank you.

The service was, well, it was ok. One thing that I really do not like about most funerals is that most of the time it is a preacher or pastor or some other religious figure that does the service itself. It lasted about 30 minutes about 80% of it was more or less a sermon about God and Jesus and how we should be humbled by them, blah blah blah. For me, I would rather have heard a lot more said about Tiny and his life, and his friends and family, then 20 minutes of going on and on about how we should be Christians, etc. I have no problem with people’s beliefs and faith, but it bothered me a LOT that instead of hearing more stories and things about what a great man Tiny was, I had to listen to this preacher give a sermon. I felt like I was in church, not a funeral. But, his daughters wanted this person to do the service and I respected their wishes and despite the fact that there was too much God talk, it was a very nice service.

The evening ended with several of the family gathering at mom’s, talking about Tiny, and how things went, and just being there for each other. It was nice.

Tamara is now gone. She left me. She and her mother went to Toronto this morning for her to go see Keith Urban tonite. She was pretty nervous about leaving Dylan for 2 days but all will be fine. Me and Dylan are gonna chill and go visit his grandmother and just relax for the remainder of the week. But speaking of the little guy, he’s calling and needs his dad. I’ll be back…
