Well folks, seeing as I finally have a few minutes to spare, I figured I would take a few minutes and write out a holiday report on how/who/what/where/when of my holidays.
Christmas Eve saw me heading out to grab a few last minute (8pm’ish) stocking stuffers. Thank God for convenience stores. Since I had the day off you would have thought that I would have finished that earlier but nono. I had to wait. I forgot though so I suppose that’s my excuse.
Christmas Day was a pile of excitement in our home. I had a hard time sleeping. Truth be told, I’m like a little kid when it comes to Christmas morning. I just want to get to everything. I think the one thing that has changed over the years is that I get just as excited about giving gifts as I do receiving them.
We opened our socks and found the usual array of sweets, chocolate, and other goodies. Then the gift unwrapping began. Dylan even got a few of them sorta open. I’ll give details on him on his page. Regardless, the tally of gifts and money spent was a little crazy but we always say we’re going to cut back next year and of course next year will be just as bad.
Tamara bought me a few unique items this year. For starters, she bought me an acoustic guitar kit. Guitar, tuner, picks, and instructional info. Always wanted to learn how to play guitar and piano so this is a good start. She also bought me one of those automated telescopes which allows you to pick destinations and it will adjust itself. I have not set it up completely yet but am looking forward to seeing the night sky, and spying on the local neighbors. Some sweets, tinker stuff, clothes, and books filled out the rest.
Tamara did well also with her PJ’s, negative film scanner, and we landed us a nice quilted fleece electric blanket.
We headed over to Tamara’s mother’s place for Christmas dinner and more gifts. My mom and grandma joined them and it was another chaotic time of people ripping gifts open and having a great old time. Family is really what Christmas is about for me and that was a perfect time. More goodies (clothes and games) were to be had. We also had one hell of a kickass dinner courtesy of my father-in-law. Tres bon!
Boxing Day was a little more calm. We ended up at mom’s later in the day for a turkey dinner but I also went on my first geocaching expedition with Alex. Very interesting little sport. I will be picking up my own GPS when I am down in the US later in January. During this expedition, I found my very first Travel Bug as well. According to the bug’s log, he is trying to make his way to California so I think I will bring him with me to Minnesota later on in January. That will get him part of the way.
So now it’s back to the work scene. Lots of things to do and no time to do them in. Always seems to be that way when the big work hits. Oh well. It beats being bored stiff right?
