Our trip to Niagara Falls, Part I

Posted by on June 19, 2008

The above photo was taken from the hotel room that me and Tamara stayed at while we were in Niagara Falls yesterday and the day before. Tamara received quite a surprise when I told her where we were going. I haven’t posted anything on here about this trip because it was going to be a surprise. So, without further adieu, here’s what happened.

Shortly after Dylan was born, I sent Tamara a package that basically introduced her to another adventure she was going to have to go on. This one lasted the past 9 months instead of the full day one she did before.

Basically, she’s had to use her wits about her to try and figure out a pile of things about me and my past, without ever asking me about it. What was my first elementary school. Where was I on June 7th, 1996. What was the last fictional novel I read. A whole lot of different things. When her “quests” were all over, she would be awarded a prize. So she has been working hard to try and solve all of these clues and quests so she could claim her prize. Last week, she completed the final puzzle and was told she needed to pack for a trip.

I purposely wrote out the information about the trip in such a fashion that it would look like we were going to Halifax. I told her I would be driving, and that she’d probably want to bring some money for gambling, etc. Well, Tuesday morning at 6am, we left the house (Dylan stayed with Tamara’s mom) by car and Tamara was sure we were going to Halifax. Driving down the highway, I took the exit to the airport and someone was VERY surprised to find out that we were flying somewhere.

I only told her WHERE we were going once we got into the rental car and were on the highway heading towards Niagara. We got there around 10:30ish I’m thinking and our hotel room was not ready, so we decided to go exploring around to see what we could find, and we’d head back to the hotel around 1ish to see if the room was ready. Man, did we ever see a lot.

More later…
