I figured since I haven’t done a full on post to here for a few days that it was about time I did. It’s one of those things where I want to post stuff on here but it always seems like I never have the time either because I am working or at home with the family and just not in the mood to write. So, I’m taking a few mins before lunch and posting about things of late.
Let’s see. After doing a few things at work this week, it turns out there is a VERY slight chance that I might get another trip out west but this time the trip would actually be to Edmonton for work. It would be very cool to get another trip out there so soon since my last one, but I’m realistic about things and if it happens it happens, otherwise, it was nice to get out there before Christmas.
Speaking of travel, I got an email from Air Canada yesterday that I was happy to see. When you are a frequent flyer, after so many points, you are given a special status on the airline. Helps you get stand by seats, access to the airport lounges, priority boarding and priority security clearance, and a handful of other stuff. Nothing super major but just some nice perks which you get used to when you achieve status. Well, my trip to Vancouver last year was supposed to get me enough points to keep my status but as it turns out, my point count was 34,997 and you need 35,000 to get status. Missed it by 3 points. Can you imagine? Well, turns out the email I got yesterday was telling me that I was granted status for another year. I was a happy camper.
In other travel news, I think I’m going to head to Halifax in 2 weeks for a weekend of geocaching. The plan is to head down on Friday sometime and come back on Sunday. Spend the whole time caching in and around the Halifax area. Lots of caches and lots of time should go well together. Hopefully the weather will be good.
We have started the prelims on our renovations to the house. We have had both the electrician and the contractor come in to arrange for quotes. We should be hearing very soon how much it’s going to cost us. We’re looking to have them start working on the garage by mid-February so that we can have it all done and finished way ahead of time and get our stuff moved into the new rooms and get the kids rooms ready. It is going to be a SUPER pain in the ass having to move all of my stuff from the computer room to the new office, but once all is said and done it will be better. I plan to try and have the two new offices wired in a MUCH better fashion than the rest of the house. I want computer and phone drops installed, plus a little wiring closet set up to keep all of the computer “crap” in one spot. Much cleaner. I also have to look at couches as I plan to put a nice leather one in my room. We also decided that to ease the renovations, we’re losing the backdoor of the garage. I originally wanted to keep it and put the back wall of my room on an angle but it would take out too much room so we figured since we already have the deck exit, we don’t need the back door. Works for me. I am actually a little excited to see how it all turns out.
