Buskers on the Boardwalk
An Introduction to Geocaching Event
Cache Up NB in cooperation with the city of Saint John is putting on an introduction to the sport of geocaching event at the city’s Buskers on the Boardwalk festival this year.
The event will take place at the Market Square boardwalk on July 24th and will run from 10am until 6pm.
We will have a tent and table set up with information about the sport of geocaching, and will be offering to take new cachers out to find a few caches in that immediate area. New players to the game will be provided with additional information and resources that they can take with them to help them continue to play the game on their own.
Other items of interest include:
- Sample cache containers from nanos to large size
- A few GPS units to show how the game is played.
- Several geocoins on display for viewing and discovering
- Online display of the geocaching.com homepage, and how you log and share your caching experiences.
- Geocaching on your mobile device (iPhone)
- Other trackable items such as travel bug dog tags
- Photos from various geocache locations and events
- Log book for guests to sign
For the more experienced geocachers, you are welcome to come on down and meet up with other local cachers, trade bugs and coins, share stories, and enjoy the social aspect to our favorite hobby. You’ll be able to share what you know with other newcomers to the game, and let them know what they can expect.
In the event of rain, the booth and table will be moved to an indoor location and this event (and the subsequent cache event page) will be updated to inform folks of where we will be.
Official geocaching.com event listing is currently pending and will be added to our calendar once the event has been published.
