A summer of geocaching

Have you been doing much caching this summer? Does it feel like you’ve been swamped with various geocaching activities? It’s felt that way for me a lot lately.

It started with Father’s Day weekend. I started my geocaching summer by heading to PEI with two other cachers for a two day raid of the island. A few weeks later, it was four days out west at GeoWoodstock. A week later I was making a flash trip to the Geobash where I only got to stay for 30 minutes before driving back to Moncton.

This past weekend was the Buskers event in Saint John and in less than two weeks we’ve got Moncton’s Race for Cache. There’s also the possible Wherigo event that may be happening near the end of the month plus I’m doing a geocaching excursion on the Dobson for the YMCA at the end of August. I’m also trying to fit in heading to Fredericton for one of the breakfasts there.

It seems like this has been a summer of geocaching for me and as much as I love the sport, I have to admit that I think there’s a part of me that’ll be glad when September comes and I can take a bit of a break.

I love geocaching and I love events and I love interacting with other cachers. I also really enjoy introducing new people to the sport so with everything going on this summer, it’s all good. It just all seems to have come from out of nowhere and I think it’s just the time of year.

Do you find yourself doing more events and caching in the summer months than other times of the year?
