FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Moncton, NB – Cache Up NB is happy to announce a historic geocoin challenge for the upcoming geocaching mega event, Maritime Mega Moncton (M3).
For the first time in New Brunswick history, the communities of Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview have partnered with Cache Up NB, with each community providing a grant that will be used to launch a tri-city geocoin challenge. The challenge will be open to everyone in the community and will coincide with the Maritime Mega Moncton (M3) event being held at Moncton Wesleyan on August 1, 2015.
The challenge involves participants finding five geocaches within a particular community’s boundary. For each set of five caches found, the participant is rewarded (upon availability) with a free geocoin. If a participant is able to obtain all three coins, the coins fit together as a full circle illustrating how our great communities fit together as one.
Each community’s coin is unique and represents their part of the Greater Moncton area. Moncton’s coin in particular will showcase the 125th birthday of the city of Moncton. There are a limited number of coins and will be available for pickup (first come, first serve) at the M3 event being held on August 1st, 2015. The geocaches associated to this challenge will be published on July 31, 2015.
Geocaching is a “high tech treasure hunt” where people use GPS enabled devices to find hidden containers placed all over the world. It’s a family friendly activity that combines technology and outdoor activities. There are currently 2.6 million geocaches hidden worldwide.
