Geo Bingo
Remember to bring your bingo card – it’s in your swag bag, This is the best way to meet and mingle with your fellow geocachers. Find a cacher who can lay claim to one of the items on the card and have them sign that square. A cacher may only sign one square per card so be strategic! Turn in your completed card at the Information desk for your chance to win a prize. (Open to registered participants only.)
X marks the spot
Where is that magic spot? For sure it’s somewhere in the parking lot but the coordinates are being held in the strictest confidence by a team of professional auditors. Mark a spot in the parking lot on your GPS and submit your entry by 3:00 p.m. to the Information desk. Closest to the spot wins a prize.
Logging Contest
If you are logging caches during the Mega stay tuned – you might be a winner! A ticker tape will run during the event of all the caches being logged in the Greater Moncton area. One of the featured caches will win the lucky logger a prize. (Open to registered participants only.)
Everyone loves an Ammo Can
You’ve been finding tiny pieces of plastic hidden in trees all day. Finally, a nice easy hide – an ammo can! Don’t you just love to look for an ammo can? Now is your chance to win one so that you can create that happy hide. Stop by the Cache Up NB table and take a guess at how much that darn thing weighs! A prize will be awarded for the closest to the weight.
Children’s Activity Room
Just for the wee ones! The children will certainly want to stop in and see what is happening in this very special place. Hands on activities for the youngsters, such as games and crafts to activities sponsored by Bricks for Kids, there will be something there for kids of all ages. This will allow Mom and/or Dad to check out the other activities that the little ones might not enjoy as much.
Trackable Table
Do you have bugs or coins that you want to drop off; are you traveling out of the area and can move some along? Or, do you simply enjoy discovering the unique and different? Whatever your interest, be sure to stop by the exchange table. Policy: you may take one trackable for each one dropped off; you will receive a ticket when you drop off the trackable that may be redeemed for another trackable after 2:00 p.m.
Geocaching International Film Festival
With every new incredible geocache container, every clever hide, every log that reads like an epic journey, it becomes more and more apparent: the geocaching community is one of the most creative groups of people on the planet. Here at M3, you’ll be able to watch the entire 2014 Geoaching International Film Festival reel in one of our education rooms. It will be available for viewing at 10:00 a.m. and at 12:00 p.m.: it runs for about an hour.
Centennial Park Geocaching
Want a little fresh air and a chance to stretch your legs? Take a quick walk into Centennial Park and check out the caches hidden there. Great for visitors to the city but a few new ones for locals too. If you are new to geocaching make sure to stop by the Learning Lab, meet our expert instructors and take a guided excursion into the park to find a few caches. GPS units available for your use.
Lab Caches
Unique, different and a rare form of cache which make them all the more attractive to the dedicated geocacher. Four lab caches may be found on the grounds of the event venue. Make sure to sign both the logs, attend the Tri-Community Search and Rescue workshop, stop by the Learning Lab and, when you want a change of pace, have a visit with the Doodle the Clown and his son Jack.
Race For Cache
M3 is running our own version of Moncton’s Race for Cache. Go out into the city and snag six extra lab caches while doing our race for cache. The team with the fastest time wins. Each lab cache counts as a find and will have you either performing a basic task, or finding your next clue. Pick up your race information at the Cache Up NB booth.
Tri-Community Geocoin Challenge
Five caches have been hidden in each of the three communities (Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe). Find each cache in the community series, write down the special code and present your list at the Challenge table. The first two hundred cachers to present their lists at the table will receive a geocoin sponsored by that community. Find all three series and you may be lucky enough to receive all three coins, which in turn fit together to make a true collector’s piece. If you haven’t already downloaded your passports (available once the caches have been published), pick one up at the Cache Up NB table.
