Well, I have to vent today! I’m sitting here reading my daily news and I come
across this article about this
kid who shot himself and his mom is now trying to put the blame on Sony’s
game Everquest! There are plenty of things out there that piss me off but this
is one of those that REALLY piss me off.
If you read the article, you’ll read about how the kid wasn’t a kid, and he
suffered from Epilepy and huge bouts of depression. Gee, I wonder if THAT
might have prompted the suicide. There have been numerous cases of teenagers or
young adults that commit suicide and the parents ALWAYS want to pass the
buck and blame it on someone or something else. But the real truth is, these
kids are just messed in the head. All the video games do is allow the kid to
drown his sorrow and depression into a fantasy world, and the kids on the edge,
they just go to far. If the parents did a lit bit more parenting, maybe these
kinds of problems wouldn’t exist.
I’ve never played Everquest and have no interest in doing so, but come on. Video
games don’t kill people. PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE!!! Wake up and
smell what you’re shoveling!
