As you can tell by my headline, I am not in a good mood. I spent most of yesterday working my ass off to try and get the damn wiring closet and server room looking nice and tidy. Let me tell you, it was a hell. But, after getting through some snags, I managed to get the closet looking quite nice and am happy with the result.
However, because of making everything look so tidy, we now have network outages in spots throughout the building. Why? Because the wires are all bundled together nice and neat and in some spots had to be bent or maneuvered to be in the right spot. So, since not all wires work well when bent, there’s some of them that are now bad. Now, this wouldn’t be such a big deal except for the fact that they’re all tied together in multiple points, so there’s no way to trace the other end of the cable, and now I have to undo all of the work that was done yesterday. I am not a happy camper. In fact, I’m royally pissed off.
I would much rather have just left it the way it was. It was a bit messy and didn’t look too great but it at least worked. Do the people at Cascades care if it works? Apparently not. It’s more important that it look nice. By the time this 5S thing is done, I will have shot someone, I’m sure of it!
