The mods continue on the new box

Well, Friday is here and what a beautiful day it is. On top ofthat, I started on another mild mod project for my new case. You can imagine after spending that kind of money on a computer case, the last thing you’d want to do is destroy or damage it. Alas, I have drilled a hole in the front of it. Worry pas! It was on purpose!

I had remembered seeing this mod of a guy who had hacked a tachometer and put it in his PC to measure the CPU utilization. I thought it was pretty cool but I wasn’t interested in paying the $50US he wanted for it. So I did some more digging and found some info about how to ack a VU meter to replace your hard drive light. Thanks to the folks @ Norampac, I was able to dig out an old DC meter and test it on a PC here and sure enough, when the hard driv is active, the little needle moves like crazy. It looks pretty cool. So in order to mount it into my case, I need to drill a few holes in the front to screw it in. It’s gonna look mighty fine when I’m done!

I also got my case lighting in. A pair of glowing blue bubble neon lights now populate the inside of my case. I think I may pick up a set of reds to go near the bottom as I think it needs more light. I’m also looking at trying to find more odd stuff to fill up those drive bays I’ve got now!

Anyway, it’s Friday, and I’m in a good mood and I’m off to work!
