Major hurdle overcome

Posted by on February 5, 2008

So this morning during a quick break from my regular day to day activities, I sat down and tinkered with some backend code I have been working on for the new Bobsroom and sure enough, after tinkering enough, I was able to find the right combination of code to give me something that will allow me to import all of the entries successfully from Postnuke into Moveable Type. This is a VERY good thing.

This was the biggest hurdle I was having in moving to this new software as I wanted to make sure I could retain all of my old entries without having to go through a major headache. Now that I have found a way to properly export the code into something that MT likes, I can work on the overall look and feel of the site, plus the creation of all of the standalone pages that make up this site. Re-adding those into the new software is actually quite painless. The only thing I need to figure out is how make the little sections like you see now show up in a similar fashion. I don’t think that will be that big of a deal.

Cool. At this rate, I should be able to have the new site up within a month or so, hopefully less time than that.
