The race, flying, and old friends

Wow. It has been insane over the course of the last few days. A LOT has been going on so I will do my best to try and get all of it into a post today.

Let’s start with my very first geocaching event. This took place this past Saturday in Moncton and there were a total of 7 teams. I was hoping for 10 but 7 ended up being a good number. Everyone met at Bore park around noonish, trickling in to start at 1. Gave them some info, and at 1, the “race” started.

Rev Slippery’s team got first prize for being creative and able to solve a unique puzzle. I was really nervous about this event because I wanted everyone to have a good time, and have everything go off without a hitch. Fortunately for myself, and everyone else, the race went over VERY well. People had a blast and could not say enough good things so I took it all in stride and am very happy that it went that well.

Now, keep this in mind. I couldn’t sleep early Sat. morning so I was up at 5:30am. I went to bed around 10:30pm, and had to catch a flight to Vancouver this morning at 6:30am. So, I didn’t get much sleep. Woke up at prolly 3ish, and tossed and turned until eventually I got up. Went to the airport, caught my flight, and away I was.

I did manage to sleep a little on the plane but if you have ever flown before, you know how uncomfortable it is to sleep on one of those things.

Got into Vancouver this morning (4 hour time difference so even though I left at 6:30am, I was in Vancouver at 10:50am but spent 7 hours in flight) and was greeted by my old friend Jason Hyslop. I gotta say, it was awesome to see him there. This is the first business trip I have had where I was able to mix in some personal stuff as well. It was nice flying somewhere and seeing a familiar face at the airport.

Jason showed me around. Vancouver looks like a pretty decent place. We went down to White Rock and he showed me the area. I also introduced him to geocaching as we snagged one at Stanley Park, and 2 near the peace arch.

Saying goodbye felt a little weird. Me and Jason have been friends a long time but we had not spoken a whole lot during his last few years in Moncton, so it was really good to sort of sit down, and hang out with an old friend and feel like no time has passed.

He’s already got Faceboook photos up so if he’s on your friend list, check them out.

The rest of this Vancouver stay will be mostly business. My Edmonton trip starts Wed. night when I get there. Once I get through all that, I’m sure I’ll have a lot more to talk about.
