WordPress, 8 months later

Posted by on January 9, 2009

It was almost 8 months ago when I officially switched this blog over from Postnuke to WordPress.  I’ve been thinking about doing a post about how things have been since the move. I could have waited until the one year mark but I figured since it was on my mind, I’d write about it now.

The fact is, I have never been so happy about having switched to a new platform as I am with WordPress. With all of the things I like to do with my website, WordPress has made it amazingly easy to integrate all of the little pieces into a single site.

One of the biggest reasons I switched was it was incredibly difficult to integrate audio and video into the site. Postnuke had no built in support to embed video and any audio into a regular post without going into a major amount of coding. By making use of WordPress’s built in embed stuff, it has been VERY easy to add videos in my posts, as well as audio. It would not have been as clean to add Bobcasts into Postnuke as it has been with WordPress.

The other thing that has been great is the fact that WordPress has a much easier implementation of plugins and themes. I always found it a bit difficult to make changes to my themes in PN plus plugins were usually a huge pain in the ass. Thankfully it has been extremely easy to integrate WordPress into many different things.

Regardless, after almost 8 months, I can definitively say that if you have thought about doing any kind of blog, WordPress is the way to go. I will definitely be staying on this platform for awhile. 🙂
