The Vegas Trip, Part III

This is the third and final part of my Vegas trip posts. Click onward for more.

The first thing we did was go down to the pool that morning and had breakfast by the pool. Breakfast was really good but also really expensive. That’s the most I have ever paid for breakfast in my life but it was good food. During our breakfast we got a taste of typical American rich snobs who think because they have money, they’re more important. Not going to go into details but me and Tamara just shook our heads as these people treated the staff rudely and talked about their money. When food was done, we went for a swim, took some photos, and got ready to leave the hotel, sort of.

See, our flight didn’t leave until 11:25 that night so we had the whole day to do stuff. We basically took some photos of the place and then packed our stuff up and checked out. Thankfully, we were able to check our bags at the bell desk and pick them up that night. It worked out pretty good. Once the bags were checked, the rest of the sight seeing began.

[singlepic id=376 w=320 h=240 float=left]Our last day in Vegas was sort of a catch-all. We had hit most of the big things that we wanted to already and only had a few little things left. The first thing we did was get the last big item off our list which was the Stratosphere tower. This is basically the tallest building in Vegas and it’s really nothing more than a bigass CN tower for Vegas. You get a pass to go up to the top and you can see all of Vegas from there. We went up, snapped some photos, and I snagged the geocache up there as well. They do have something different there in that there are 3 carnival rides you can go on up there. One dangles you over the edge of the tower and spins; one shoots you straight out as if you’re going to fly off the edge, and the other one basically goes up and down really fast along the point of the tower. We didn’t do any of the rides but we did get a good laugh at watching some other people do them. We had some food in the diner in the lobby and then caught the Douche back into the main part of the Strip.

We had to return to the New York New York because the gifts we got for our moms were only available that day so we stuck around a bit and took some more photos and then made our way back towards our hotel. We caught the afternoon viewing of the fountain show at our hotel. It was our last day and we wanted to make sure we’d catch it so we stuck around long enough to see it.

[singlepic id=379 w=320 h=240 float=right]Tamara wanted to go to another hotel which was off the strip called the Rio. She had heard about a show called the “Show in the Sky” and since it was free, why not check it out. So we headed over there and had a drink while we waited. The show started and it was basically singing and dancing with a lot of half naked women. There was some serious sensuality in part of the show and they warn you about it at the start. They did however have these “floats” which people were on and they literally floated around part of the casinos while the girls threw beaded necklaces at people. I caught one of the necklaces for Tamara so she had a keepsake from that experience.

From there it was back to our hotel where we caught the fountain show again but this time at night. We gambled a bit more and then it was time to go.

We caught our flight and pretty much slept the whole way home. We got into Toronto at 6:30AM and left at 9:10AM for Moncton getting us at our door by around 1ish on Friday. We slept for 3-4 hours before going to get the kids. It was a long night.

As an overall experience, it was awesome. Ya, we spent money we didn’t have but we had an awesome time. Saw a lot of great things and have a lot of great memories. Did not like how they force you into a casino to get to certain attractions. Didn’t like the fact that you can smoke pretty much anywhere in Vegas except in restaurants, which meant the casinos were fair game. Loved the hotel, the shows, and the people. Most people were pretty decent when you asked them to take your picture. Was a little weird getting used to seeing people outside drinking alcohol. Yes folks, you are free to walk around the streets of Vegas with a drink in hand. It was a little surreal.

We will return to Vegas someday but likely pay less for the hotel, and more for shows. It will be a fun time.

Here’s a photo gallery of some of the highlights. We took over 1400 photos so this is just a small sample. Enjoy!
